$4.5 MILLION FOR NURSING HOME NEGLECT:
Mr. Stege settled several nursing home neglect cases for approximately four and one-half million dollars.
We have many such cases -- all of which we are pursuing vigorously.
COMPLEX TRANSACTION CLOSED: Mr. Bloom acted as the lead attorney and drafted all of the documents for a complex, multi-million dollar real estate transaction that involved the sale of property which was being used as a synagogue and a charter school.
REAL ESTATE TAX EXEMPTION VICTORY: Mr. Bloom successfully overturned a determination from the Ohio Department of Taxation, which changed the designation of his client's real property from non-exempt to exempt status. This change to exempt status will save his client nearly $100,000 annually.
MILLION DOLLAR VERDICT: Mike Michelson, Andy Thompson and Tom Wood tried a
railroad injury case to verdict in Columbus, Ohio and the jury awarded a
verdict of one million, three hundred fifty thousand dollars.
FELA CASES :
Mr. Michelson and Mr. Thompson secured justice
for many injured railroad workers (through lawsuits),
to the tune of several million dollars. We handle
many routine and complex railroad injury cases.
SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE:
Mr. Stege resolved hard-fought litigation against a local institution whose lax security was
an open invitation to sexual predators. The client is very pleased with the result.
MEDICAL MALPRACTICE AFTER SURGERY:
One of the areas in which medical mistakes are common is during the recovery period, shortly after surgery. The patient's signs and symptoms must be monitored closely during the risky period. In our client's case, the patient was not monitored/responded to properly, resulting in permanent disability to the patient.
Mr. Michelson sued on her behalf and successfully resolved the case.
COVER-UPS UNMASKED:
Mr. Stege unearthed fraudulent behavior by two nursing homes who were hiding the truth from State investigators.
Needless to say, once found out, the Defendants paid for their sins.
DISABLED WORKERS WIN:
Mr. Thompson successfully handled three separate cases on behalf of disabled workers: one client had a mental disability, one had multiple physical disabilities,
and the third was needed at home to take care of her disabled child. A lawsuit was needed to obtain justice in two of the three cases, while the third was resolved through pre-suit negotiations. All three clients are happy with their victories.
BOTCHED FOOT SURGERY:
Podiatrists are sometimes too quick with the
knife. That happened to our client: during the
middle of her surgery, the foot surgeon "lightened-up"
the anesthetic and persuaded our groggy client
to consent to more extensive surgery. You can
predict the consequences: the podiatrist botched
the entire job. The patient sued and the firm
recovered a handsome sum for our client.
FOLLOWING FELA INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY:
A railroad worker out of Willard, Ohio was blind-sided by a serious, compensable back injury on the job.
He called us right away - as soon at it happened. We advised him from the beginning and later filed suit. He painstakingly followed our advice. As a result of his diligence and foresight, as well as the strength of the facts, he is now on a solid economic footing for the rest of his life.
SEVEN MILLION DOLLAR VERDICT PRESERVED ON APPEAL AND PAID IN FULL:
After unsuccessful appeals by the opposition to the Eighth District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court, a verdict in the
amount of $6.6 million was affirmed and paid in full, with interest at 10%. The verdict was obtained on behalf of a family whose son was badly injured at birth.
VENTILATOR
PATIENTS WIN:
Our firm represented about a dozen patients who
rely on ventilators in order to breathe. When
their nursing home threatened to transfer them
elsewhere for financial reasons, we intervened.
The nursing home quickly backed-down.
MEDINA COUNTY VERDICT: Mr. Stege and Mr. Thompson won a jury trial in Medina County on behalf of a young woman of child-bearing age who was cruelly sterilized by her gynecologist, Bob Bowden D.O., who falsely advertised himself as someone who "listens to women."
MAHONING COUNTY SETTLEMENT: Mr. Thompson and Mr. Bloom obtained an excellent settlement on the first day of trial on behalf of a fellow whose bad back was made even worse as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
